IPP-type work-based learning system is a Korean model of Co-op (cooperative education) that is being implemented by leading overseas universities. It is a long-term work and study practice system that simultaneously conducts full-time industry training and study during an academic semester.

Last semester, more than 150 students from business, engineering, and other departments experienced work in the field as interns at more than 100 companies that have signed partnership agreement with Sookmyung University. The work at industry fields has been getting good reviews because the internship method enables the students to directly participate and share results compared to common internship where the interns only carry out simple repetitive tasks. In fact, 14 out of 19 graduating students who participated in IPP successfully found employment right after completing their internship and even some of the continuing students found employment or were offered employment.
