“Opening a big page of alumni exchange,” the Sookmyung Power Network Day

The Sookmyung Power Network Day was prepared with the aim to create a true human network by gathering Sookmyungians who are active as proud career women in our society. Through good reviews and support after the first one last year, the event grew in scale such as expanding the pre-registration for the event.

 

 

 

 

 

Accordingly, the event was participated by more than 300 Sookmyung alumni who are very active in diverse areas, and it was a meaningful time of close bonding and camaraderie especially with the participation by President Jungai Kang, deans, administrators, head professors of departments, Alumni President Jeong Sun-ok, standing board members, and presidents of colleges.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the first part of the event called Let’s Go Sookmyung Power! that was presided by Office of External Affairs President Lee Hyeong-jin, President Jungai Kang delivered her welcoming message. “I would like to thank the alumni who are spreading the pride and self-esteem of Sookmyung in all areas of the society and hope everyone can build a true human network that can share partnership and leadership.”

 

 

 

 

 

Alumni President Jeong Sun-ok her expressed her congratulations and intention as she said, “I am very thankful that each and every one of alumni have written the history of hope and challenge for the past 110 years, and I hope we can open the doors to the true potential of Sookmyung alumni by becoming each other’s driving force.”

 

 

 

In the special lecture that followed, political commentator Ko Seong-guk gave an opportunity for the participants to think about the essence of network and the source of its power based on the topic “Network Power.”

 

 

 

 

 

After the banquet, the second part of the event Together with Sookmyung Power! progressed with various programs. First, the 4-men popera group “Paradise” opened the colorful stage, which was then followed by introductions on activities and communities of alumni that become the center of Sookmyung Power Network.

 

 

 

   

 

In the Sookmyung Power Talk Show, the panels of Sookmyung alumni shared their opinions on the meaning of Sookmyung Power and introduced their know-hows on how to manage human network. It was presided by Lee Ik-seon(Division of Child Welfare & Studies, Class of 91/Broadcaster) and participated by Park Seong-hui(Department of Commerce and Trade, Class of 92/Branch Manager of Longchamp Korea), Bong Yeon-geun(Division of Korean Language & Literature, Class of 94/Deputy General Manager of Korea Broadcasting Advertising Corporation), and Yoo Jae-gyeong(Department of German Language & Culture, Class of 97/CEO of Navi & Partners). Ko Seong-guk Ph.D., who gave a special lecture earlier, and alumni Cha Yun-seon(Division of Economics, Class of 89/CEO of Now Best) also participated as special guests and shared their ideas on the importance of continuous networking and alumni’s love of alma mater.

 

 

 

 

 

This event came to a close with a group photo of the participating alumni. The alumni renewed their commitment toward continuous efforts to newly build and activate communities for each field of expertise, and our university plans to actively support their efforts in return.

 

 

 

The organizer of the event, the Development Cooperation Team, said, “We feel the importance of networking among alumni in many different fields with each passing year,” and “we hope a network created by opportunities such as today can become another Sookmyung Power and a big encouragement for the students who are preparing for employment in such difficult times.”
