Sookmyung ranked 5th in the nationwide survey of university satisfaction conducted among 3000 students from 30 universities. Student satisfaction with Sookmyung faculty ranked 3rd, and the general satisfaction rate of Sookmyung students was very high.

The quality of lectures, the diligence of faculty members and curriculum were major factors in the survey, with Sookmyung ranking 5th in the integrated satisfactory rate, following POSTECH and KAIST. Sookmyung faculty ranked 3rd on career counseling and 4th on conscientious lecturers.

Ji-hae Lee, a junior in the Department of Educational Psychology, said, “Our professors help students when they have difficulty in understanding through the online discussion bulletin board.” The mentor-mentee program made up of professors and students also got good grades by virtue of how it helps students advance both their studies and career. Hae-rim Kang, a senior in the Department of Education, praised the program, saying, “I got a sense of security thanks to the help of the program and the professor’s counsel.” In addition, the price of Sookmyung’s cafeteria food ranked 6th overall, while all other assessed factors marked evenly within the top 10, showing high satisfaction among students.

The survey was carried out among 30 high-ranking universities selected by Jung-ang Ilbo’s (a Korean press company) university evaluation system, with 11 factors surveyed: faculty, curriculum, tuition, scholarships, benefits package, classrooms, library, convenience facilities, information infrastructure, job placement guidance, publicity, school image, and administration of academic affairs. This survey was conducted by Jung-ang Ilbo with the University-Customer-Satisfaction-Rate method invented by polling firm Research and Research.
