This camp was designed to discover regional core talent with the potential for growth, and over its two days and three nights, the selected girls were presented with special leadership lectures and security education while they experienced group life.

On August 9th, the students visited the Dora Observatory in Paju and the DMZ, took mess with the soldiers of a military troop nearby, experienced holding personal arms, and toured the 3rd underground tunnel, a symbol of security. Sookmyung’s ROTC officers took the field trip with the group, explaining how to use personal arms and put on bulletproof helmets, and helping them understand army life.

The camp also included a program in which students could listen to lectures of professors belonging to Sookmyung Global Leadership and other outside instructors. Major General Seungdo Lee, chieftain of the 52nd infantry division, provided security education and Jeain Choi, an MBN announcer, gave a mentoring class. There was also time allotted for a morning run and track meet so as to help the students adapt to group life.

On the last day, the camp wrapped up with a Sookmyung campus tour and an introduction to the admissions officer system. Minkyung Yoo, from Sunyou High school, said that this opportunity made her think about her future career and that the two-day camp program was so interesting that time flew by.

Eunjin Park, the director of Sookmyung Global Leadership noted that “camp programs for high school students train their bodies and minds and help to establish an inner sense of security.”
