Strengthening the Basis for Sookmyung Culture Institute

To introduce our culture to the world, we are laying foundation stone for overseas Sookmyung culture institute in every corner of the world. In February last, we visited in Vietnam and Senegal to conduct a survey and came back after carrying out pilot education of Korean culture there.
The teams formed for the program designed by Korea Culture Institute set out for Hanoi and Halong Bay in Vietnam and Dakar and St. Louis in Senegal respectively on 14th day for each 8 and 10 days to complete their mission.
The Vietnam team consists of professor Soo Gyeong Seo and other 12 members visited National Economics University and Halong Gifted High School and carried out a survey for establishing Sookmyung Culture Institute and performed pilot education of Korean culture. Meanwhile, the Senegal team consists of professor Jin Seok Yoo and other 12 members visited Korean embassy to Senegal, Universite Gaston Berger and Institut Superieur de Management (ISM) having busy days to complete their mission.
The teams visited local universities and introduced campus life of our university and other Korean universities, and offered Korean language teaching and Korean culture presentation. In addition, the teams had a lot of activities for establishing overseas Sookmyung culture institutes such as preliminary survey on local living environment and needs of Korean culture, and discussion related to KF Global e-School (Real time video Koreanology lecture).
Korea Culture Institute said: “The reports worked out by 2010 Senegal and Vietnam teams will be a manual providing real and valuable information for the students to be sent to Senegal and Vietnam in the future.” “We expect continued relation between the members of the teams and local students will become a route for introducing Korean culture.”
