Nagayama Kyoko, a Tokyo native and graduate of Sookmyung Women’s college, the former college of Sookmyung Women’s University, has donated a development fund to her alma mater.

Last February, Park Jeong-ae, a researcher of Sookmyung Historical Data Collection Committee, visited Japan to collect data from Chun-jong-hoi (the alumni association of Japanese graduates from the former Sookmyung Women’s College). It was there that Park met with Chun-jong-hoi member, Nagayama Kyoko.

Mrs. Nagayama Kyoko, who graduated in 1944 and majored in the Domestic Subjects, is 86 this year. She mentioned in her letter to Sookmyung that she appreciated the visit and would treasure Sookmyung’s calendar and necklace as mementos.

Mrs. Kyoko donated 50,000 yen for her alma mater’s development last July, and has promised to contribute another 50,000 yen this October. Sookmyung president, Young-sil Han replied in her letter to Mrs. Nagayama Kyoko that she and the Sookmyung family were concerned about their alumni in disaster-stricken Japan, and that they were moved all the more by Mrs. Kyoko’s generous expression of devotion made despite such dire circumstances.
