Career Strategy by major… Strengthening Career Training Project

15 plans are selected from the capability build-up project plan contest. We expect that general education competitive power of our school to increase through the project.
The capability build-up project for students’ professions is one of our projects that we applied for to be an eligible university for government funds for the national project to strengthen the capability of universities. As a part of facilitating profession programs, one hundred and fifty million won of the fund by the National Treasury would be spent to devise a program to strengthen capabilities of education and students’ abilities to take professions after graduation to sharpen the competitive power of Sookmyung students to enter professions without difficulty after graduation.
An evaluation committee which consists of 6 faculty members including chief and second chief officers announced that Information Communication major won the first prize as a result of the government support which ended last June. The Information Communication major has devised numerous plans to realize their vision ‘foster multidimensional women leaders with the power of thinking.’ Digital media, video content planning, developing centered education system, and practical education are the key points of the plans.
Japanese Studies major and Industrial Design major won the second prize. Japanese Studies major formulated the Three-Step Development Strategy: strengthening communication capability, building internal and external network and practical curriculum. Industrial Design major proposed ‘VISION 2020’ for the project. The proposal include details of their curriculum to meet the demands of the industrial design field in society by fostering integrated talents who are equipped with design, technology, and management capabilities.
The third prize winners are Culture and Tourism, Biological Science, Statistics, Child Welfare & Studies, and Law majors. Korean Language & Literature, French Language & Literature, Germany Language & Literature, Physics, Food & Nutrition, Pharmacy, and Visual & Multimedia Design majors are also accepted as prize winners.
Through this project we launch as a part of strengthening students’ capabilities to take professions after graduation, our university will lead each major to intensify capabilities of education and programs which helps students to enter professions.
Sookmyung University is going to launch various projects through 7 categories including the profession part as an eligible university for receiving a two billion and thirty million government fund to strengthen the capabilities of universities in the nation.
