Bangladesh Sisters at Sookmyung Women’s University as Global Regional Talents Scholarship Students

Sookmyung Women’s University (SMU) selected 28 Global Regional Talents Scholarship students (7 undergraduate students, 13 graduate students) to draw foreign students for globalizing its campus and to raise outstanding foreign talents for 21st century.

The sisters enrolled together in Multimedia Science Major at SMU attract attention. Ruksana and Asma are sisters from Bangladesh and both of them speak fluent English. The sisters had majored in Multimedia Science in Bagladesh and transferred to SMU this semester. They stated that they would like to study and experience the developed Korean information technology industry. Ruksana who already has been in the information technology industry of Bangladesh is a promising student for her study and future career. Asma, her younger sister, is a diligent student whose academic capability is remarkable. She was an all A+ student at her former school. She remarked that she would become the icon to stimulate higher education for Bangladesh girls after she learns about dynamically evolving various fields of Korean information technology.

Also, Ho Phuong Chung who is a graduate student accepted as a global regional talent scholarship student had applied for SMU through a recommendation from Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam. She majored in Korean Studies at Hanoi University of Foreign Studies and has advanced Korean skills. She is interested in not only Korean, but also Korean history and cultures. She has a long history with Korea. She participated in several short-term education programs in Korean Universities and on-the-job training programs provided by Korean corporations.

She said she would like to acquire expert knowledge in SMU via Korean she learned in Vietnam. She also hopes to realize her dream to construct a bridge connecting Korea and Vietnam by studying Business Administration (Organization, Human Resource Major).

Global Regional Talents Scholarship is to support distinguished foreign students who are equipped with capabilities and talents to become global leaders of certain fields and who are recommended by leaders of the fields from which they are recommended.
