Sookmyung Women’s University ROTC Alumni Association (President, Captain Minsoo Bae) held an inauguration ceremony on December 2nd (Thu) at the Snowflake Square Hall.

The event was held in compliance with the quarantine guidelines, and the ROTC Central Committee President Jinseo Park and executives, President Yunkeum Chang, Vice President Jiyoung Oh of the Alumni Association, and former ROTC directors and alumni attended the event as special guests to celebrate the occasion. In 2010, Sookmyung Women’s University ROTC drew attention by establishing the first Korean women's college ROTC, and this year marks its 11th anniversary. It has produced a total of 241 officers during this period.

At the inauguration ceremony, President Yunkeum Chang gave a word of encouragement and said, “The establishment of the ROTC Alumni Association will create close ties and cooperation between seniors and juniors, which will serve as an opportunity for Sookmyung Women’s University ROTC to grow from a pioneer to the best in the nation.”

Jinseo Park, who represented 220,000 Army ROTC alumni, expressed his congratulations and said, "Despite its short history, Sookmyung Women's University has grown from the first women's ROTC to an elite academic corps," and "in addition, we expect it to become the cradle of training the most elite female officers who have been selected for the Air Force Academy to protect our skies and lands.”

In a commemorative speech, Captain Minsoo Bae, the first alumni president, promised, “With this foundation ceremony as our first step forward, the 269 alumni will inherit the honor of Sookmyung Women’s University and the will of the ROTC seniors and grow into proud female leaders.”

The ROTC Alumni Association awarded scholarships to two candidates on this day, and it became a meaningful event for seniors and juniors to rekindle their ambition to become great female leaders of Korea.
