Sookmyung Women’s University promotes exchange and cooperation with the University of Wisconsin-Madison

The University of Wisconsin-Madison, famous for being one of the top research universities in the United States, and Sookmyung Women’s University are promoting exchange and cooperation.
Sookmyung Women’s University’s International Affairs announced that it discussed the promotion of long-term and short-term exchange programs with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which visited Sookmyung Women’s University on August 30, through a meeting between Assistant Dean of Academic Deans＇Services from Madison Campus Eunsook Jung and President Yunkeum Chang.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is ranked 75th in the QS World Rankings in 2022 and is a prestigious university representing the Midwest of the United States. There are a total of 13 campuses in Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, which is the main university, has a total of 20 departments and more than 100 research complexes. In particular, the research and development of the graduate schools is very active, showing an even strength in all fields such as humanities, chemistry, biochemistry, life science, computer science, agricultural college, engineering college, medical school, economics, and pure science. President Chang, who received her Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, had once received the Proud Alumni Award awarded by the Korean Alumni Association at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Through this meeting, the two universities talked about various topics such as women, leadership, and STEM. They shared opinions about a short-term program that conducts online and offline classes and discussions during the summer semester and a customized program that can help with global networks and employment in a format similar to the existing honors program. In addition, they also explored ways to exchange students such as taking online classes during the semester and visiting the University of Wisconsin-Madison during vacations to hold symposiums and discussions.
President Yunkeum Chang said, “We expect that Sookmyung Women’s University and the prestigious University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States can create synergy with each other through active exchanges and cooperation in fields such as education and research.”
