The Journal of Materials Chemistry A (IF:14.511) selects emerging researchers from around the world who have received their doctorate within 10 years as emerging investigators who have great potential to advance. After being appointed at Sookmyung Women’s University in 2016, Professor Ryu was selected in recognition of his academic achievements, including publishing a total of 72 papers, including publications in top-level SCI journals such as Nature Communications, Advanced Energy Materials, ACS Nano, and Chemical Engineering Journal.

Professor Ryu published an invitational paper in the Emerging Investigator Issue of “Journal of Materials Chemistry A” under the title “Atomized miniaturized bi-phase IrOx/Ir catalysts loaded on N-doped carbon nanotubes for organic Li- CO2 batteries”. This research paper contains research results on next-generation catalysts for lithium-carbon dioxide secondary batteries that produce high efficiency at low cost by loading precious metal catalysts into carbon nanofibers on an atomic basis. This paper was also selected as Journal of Materials Chemistry A Hot Paper selected by the journal editor.

Professor Ryu is currently conducting research on next-generation secondary batteries including lithium secondary batteries and eco-friendly energy technologies based on electrochemistry, and is carrying out various government research projects related to this. Professor Ryu said, “I am very honored to be selected as an emerging investigator by such “a well-known journal of RSC, Journal of Materials Chemistry A”, and I will do my best to produce excellent research achievements through continuous related research.”
