Sookmyung Women’s University Student Affairs held the “2022 Winter Sookmyung Overseas Volunteer Inauguration Ceremony” on January 9 in Gemma Hall with representative overseas volunteer leadership groups such as SFV and SIWA volunteer groups..
The ceremony was attended by the Dean of Student Affairs Yoon-sun Song, Professors Kyu- dong Kim and Jae-min Park, the academic advisors of the Overseas Volunteer, and the volunteers, who recited the oath of service and solidified the meaning of service..
The Sookmyung Frontier Volunteer (SFV), along with Professor Jae-min Park of the Division of Korean Language & Literature, will be conducting educational volunteer activities at the Thinh Gia Nursery School in Vietnam from January 12 to 17, teaching Korean language, music, and art, and the Sookmyung International Women＇s Association (SIWA), along with Professor Kyu-dong Kim of the School of Global Service, will be visiting the Albany, New York area from February 14 to 25 to host a Rainbow Camp to introduce Korean culture and history to local Korean adopted children.
A representative from the Student Affairs Social Services Center said, "Educational volunteering overseas by current students in the form of talent donation during their vacation will play a role in spreading the values of sharing and coexistence of Sookmyung Women’s University," and "we hope that the volunteers who have been preparing for this activity for a long time will return safe and sound from their activities."
