On Wednesday, April 27th, our university’s International Students Service team held the ‘International Students Brunch Day’ event to help forming a network between international students and assist them to adapt to their school life.

A total of 42 people, including 32 international students and 10 Korean members of the GPM club, participated in the event. Considering the improved COVID-19 situation, and the increasing proportion of face-to-face activities, this event is held to activate international students’ networks.

The event started with a ‘balance game’ for ice-breaking, followed by watching the video containing school building introductions, timetable and assignments. The video attracted the attention of many foreign students since it contained information from seniors who experienced campus life.

“Snowflake Bulletin Board”, the last program of the event, was a fun time to share and sympathize with each other. It selected the most interesting content of foreign students' stories and gave them presents.

Senanur Kochan (School of Communication and Media, 21), who attended the event, said, “Until now, there were not many in-person classes, so I did not have many chances to meet my friends. However, I was happy to have a quality time with everyone through this event.”

Kurnaz Rabia (Division of Korean Language and Literature, 18), another participant in the event, said, “I enjoyed the event very much, and I was especially glad to get my favorite snowflake doll (Nunsong-i doll) through the game.”

The International Students Service Team, who hosted the event, said, “It was an opportunity to encourage international students who were tired from the emotional depression caused by COVID-19 and preparing for midterms,” added that “It formed a network between Korean students and international students while producing good results to revitalize communication at the same time.”
