Sookmyung receices certification by the International Education Quality Assurance System

The evaluation committee of the 2014 International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), which is formed by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice and civil members, announced the newly certified universities, visa grant restricted universities and existing certificate maintenance universities through written evaluations and on-site qualitative evaluations on February 16.
As a result, 28 schools such as Kookmin University and Sungkyunkwan University received the certification for the first time among the four-year universities, and 41 schools including our university will maintain their existing certification.
Our university received excellent reviews across all areas for this IEQAS re-accreditation evaluation. Our university scored well above the average standard in sections such as nationality diversity of foreign students, health insurance subscription rate and dormitory accommodation rate for new foreign students. Especially, our school received great evaluation in terms of illegal alien ratio which was 'below 1%'. With this, it has become easier for foreign students to study at our university because visa screening has been mitigated during the entry and departure from the country.
Universities certified by IEQAS receive publicity through diplomatic offices and official website of the Ministry of Education to foreign students who want to study abroad in Korea and receive various administrative and financial benefits, which acts as a major attraction for foreign students who are looking to study abroad.
An office of International Affairs announced, "We are managing the academic standards of new international students through rigorous qualification screening and helping the existing students with their studies and adjustment to school life through various support programs" and "we will secure the global identity of Sookmyung by not only promoting quantitative expansion but also qualitative improvement in terms of internationalization."
