On Wednesday, June 22, Sookmyung Women’s University held the “2022 SM Bridge Appreciation Day — Better Together” event at the Centennial Hall’s Hansangeun Lounge on campus.

This event was organized by Career Development to gather alumni seniors and juniors participating in SM Bridge, a mentoring program at Sookmyung Women’s University, to network and express their gratitude at the school level. A total of 180 alumni attended the event, which lasted about 2 hours from 7:00 p.m., and it was a time to strengthen solidarity and union as Sookmyungians.

In the first part of the event, President Yunkeum Chang and People Power Party National Assembly Member Ye-ji Kim, as well as members and alumni of the campus shared gratitude with SM Bridge mentors who have been giving employment mentoring to students. In addition, there was a special time for President Chang to announce the recent major achievements of Sookmyung Women’s University and inform alumni. In Part 2, a program was held to share information and network amongst the participants through meetings based on occupation and function.

President Chang said, “SM Bridge that leads our students by utilizing the capabilities of 120,000 alumni, which is Sookmyung's biggest asset, is the program I emphasize the most as the president,” and expressed her gratitude by saying, “the essential key to Sookmyung Women’s University’s high employment rate amid various difficulties is the dedication of our alumni mentors.”

The event, which was held as part of the Career Development Plus Center for the Creative Economy project, was an opportunity not only to discover new alumni mentors in the future, but also to further revitalize the alumni network for each job, including banking, human resources, finance, accounting, IT, sales, and marketing.

Chul Choi, Dean of Career Development, said, “There is still a sense of impressive atmosphere that filled the Hansangeun Lounge today. We will continue to actively promote the alumni mentoring for SM Bridge, the most powerful network in the world, and we expect all of this to be a practical and meaningful contribution to Sookmyung Women’s University.”

Meanwhile, SM Bridge is an all-round alumni network community created to cultivate creative talents leading the future, and serves as a bridge between universities and society to help current students find employment as well as career development for graduates.

The main program is 1:1 online mentoring between alumni and current students with field experience. Last year alone, a total of 829 mentoring cases were conducted. In addition, various programs are being held, such as the “Job Analysis Conference with SM Bridge Mentors,” where job analysis is conducted after providing mentoring from seniors in the field of pursued occupation, and “Meeting with Seniors,” where current alumni receive employment tips from current alumni.
