Presidents from 16 Major Private Universities in Indonesia Visit Sookmyung

Sookmyung Women’s University has signed general academic exchange agreements with 16 major universities in Indonesia, seeking to cooperate with them in various educational areas including professor exchange, student exchange, and joint research.


The university held a ceremony for concluding the agreement with the group of private university presidents from Indonesia at the school’s Administration Building on May 16 (Thu.). 


A total of 26 members visited Sookmyung Women’s University including the presidents, vice presidents, and chairpersons of 16 universities that are members of ABPPTSI, the association of private universities in Indonesia, and they were greeted by Sookmyung Women’s University’s faculty including President Yunkeum Chang, Vice President Jongseong Park, and International Affairs Bureau Head Sejae Chun. ABPPTSI is Indonesia’s largest consultative group for private universities with around 2,000 member schools. 


Sookmyung Women’s University discussed cooperation measures for exchanges according to the desired area of each university that joined the agreement. Likewise, members of Sookmyung shared the university’s programs for internationalization strategies including the KF Global e-School Program, which educates students worldwide on Korean studies, and the UNESCO UNITWIN business. They also actively discussed double majoring and invitation programs for international students.

After signing the agreement with ABPPTSI Vice President Paul Sirait, who participated in the event as the group’s representative, President Chang posed for a commemorative photograph with the participants. 


This agreement is expected to promote Sookmyung Women’s University to Indonesian students and facilitate enrollment in the school’s majors and programs. Following the agreement ceremony, the presidents’ group toured the Sookmyung Women’s University campus, including the Chung Youngyang Embroidery Museum, Digital Humanity Center, and Main Library. 



ABPPTSI is the acronym of the Indonesian phrase “Asosiasi Badan Penyelenggara Perguruan Tinggi Swasta Indonesia,” which means Indonesian Private Universities’ Association in Indonesian language. The following universities have joined the agreement:
