Sookmyung invites the Slovenian Ambassador to Korea

On September 20 (Friday), our university invited the Slovenian Ambassador to Korea Jernej Müller to broadly discuss ways of cooperation in the education and culture fields.
Ambassador Müller visited our university in the afternoon and had a conversation with faculty members including President Moon Si-yeon, Dean of Student Affairs Jung Hye-young, Dean of Career Development Son Seo-hee, and Dean of International Affairs Shin Dong-soon.
Ambassador Müller showed deep interest in various programs our university is pursuing to nurture female leaders. Slovenia has been actively engaging in exchanges with women's universities, having sent high-level delegations including the Minister of Foreign Affairs to our university twice. Slovenia is known as a country where women's participation is active, with women holding key high-level positions such as the president.
President Moon Si-yeon introduced representative women's research institutions of our university such as the Institute of Women's Health, Asian Women's Studies Institute, and Asia-Pacific Women's Information Network Center, taking the first step for future exchanges. Both sides also discussed specific cooperation plans such as our university signing academic exchange agreements with prestigious Slovenian universities and conducting short-term student internships at the Slovenian Embassy in Korea for 3 months.
In addition, both sides agreed to hold an event providing traditional Slovenian breakfast as part of the "KRW 1,000 Breakfast" project currently underway at our university on November 22. Ambassador Müller introduced beekeeping, Slovenia's representative diplomatic policy, and presented honey produced directly at the embassy in Hannam-dong to the attendees. Slovenia, which keeps sustainability the core of its national policy, is actively promoting beekeeping projects to respond to climate change.
After the conversation, they toured major campus facilities including the Sookmyung History Museum, Central Library, and Le Cordon Bleu.
Our university stated, "We expect that educational and cultural exchanges between our university and Slovenia will be further expanded on the occasion of Ambassador Müller's visit," and added, "We plan to hold various exchange events such as hosting Slovenian cultural events on campus in the future."
Meanwhile, our university plans to invite the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology of Slovenia in October to discuss ways of cooperation in the science field.
