On Thursday, August 28, Sookmyung Women’s University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul AI Foundation to foster AI talent and establish an AI-driven startup ecosystem. The signing ceremony, held at the university’s AI Center, was attended by President Moon Si-yeun, Chairman Kim Man-ki of the Seoul AI Foundation, and officials from both institutions.
Through this agreement, the two institutions will collaborate to spread AI innovation across administration, education, industry, and civic life. By combining the university’s strengths in research and education with the foundation’s expertise in policy design and implementation, the partnership aims to help Seoul grow into a global hub of AI innovation.
Specifically, both parties agreed to share capabilities and infrastructure in order to nurture the next generation of AI talent, advance an AI-based startup ecosystem, promote AI-driven administrative innovation and global leadership projects, and support student-led AI ambassador activities.
Chairman Kim Man-ki emphasized, “What matters in AI innovation is not the technology itself but ensuring that citizens can truly feel its benefits. Through this partnership with Sookmyung Women’s University, we will build a sustainable AI ecosystem that spans administration, culture, education, and entrepreneurship.”
President Moon Si-yeun stated, “Based on the university’s knowledge and talent, we will work with the Seoul AI Foundation to cultivate AI professionals who will lead future society, while jointly advancing AI initiatives that realize public and social value. In particular, I look forward to collaborating with the foundation to foster AI-based innovative startups through Sookmyung’s ongoing Seoul Campus Town Project.”
