Sookmyung Women’s University has been selected as the only institution in Korea to host Thailand’s “One District, One Scholarship (ODOS)” program, a national talent development initiative organized by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) under the Thai government. From October 15 (Wed) to November 22 (Sat), the university will host 50 outstanding Thai students for a six-week intensive IT education program.
Launched for the first time this year, the ODOS program is a national scholarship project designed to provide educational opportunities and financial support to talented students from across Thailand. Alongside Sookmyung Women’s University, leading universities such as the University of Essex (UK), University of Washington (USA), and Aalto University (Finland) are participating as global partners.

During their stay at Sookmyung, Thai students will attend cutting-edge IT courses in areas including robotics and automation, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and fintech, cybersecurity, and e-sports, combining theory with hands-on practice. In addition, they will visit major historical and cultural landmarks in Korea—such as the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)—to gain a deeper understanding of Korean history, culture, and the Korean Wave (Hallyu).
Chun Seh-jae, Dean of the Office of International Affairs, stated, “The ODOS program presents a meaningful opportunity to nurture future global talent linking Korea and Thailand. Sookmyung Women’s University will actively support the Thai students’ growth by offering not only advanced education but also enriching cultural experiences through Hallyu.”
