Sookmyung signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on industry–academia cooperation with Renault Korea on November 28 (Fri) at the Administration Building. Attending the signing ceremony were Sookmyung President Moon Si-yeun; Son Seo-hee, Dean of Career Development (Head of the University Job Plus Center); Shin Jee-young, Director of the Industry–Academic Cooperation Foundation; Lee Joo-hyun, Chair of the Dept. of Industrial Design; and Prof. Kim Soo-young of the Division of Mechanical Systems, along with Renault Korea CEO Nicolas Paris; Choi Sung-kyu, Vice President and Head of R&D; Sang Hee-jung, Vice President; and Park Jung-wan, Division Head.
This agreement was made possible by the alignment of Sookmyung’s ongoing strategy to “cultivate global women leaders based on K-culture” and Renault Korea’s policy of “coexistence with local communities and fostering future talent.” Under the partnership, the two institutions plan to develop outstanding talent through internship programs, job and startup fairs, and other initiatives, while supporting students’ career development. In particular, they will promote practice-oriented education and industry–academia collaboration in connection with departments related to future mobility technology and design.
Nicolas Paris, CEO of Renault Korea, stated, “Our collaboration with Sookmyung Women’s University is a very meaningful milestone that reflects Renault’s values of diversity and inclusion,” adding, “We will create innovation in the future mobility sector together with women talents who represent the Republic of Korea.” President Moon Si-yeun commented, “This agreement will serve as another stepping stone for Sookmyung Women’s University to help its creative women talents advance onto the global stage,” and added, “We look forward to projects that will generate synergy with Renault Korea across various fields.”
Sookmyung’s University Job Plus Center is also working with a number of global companies, including Nestlé Korea, Ericsson Korea, and WPP Media, to expand students’ field experience and strengthen their employment competitiveness. Son Seo-hee, Head of the University Job Plus Center, said, “We will continue to strengthen industry-tailored career development platforms to broaden students’ range of career choices.”
