On Thursday, May 7, Hallyu International College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korean Defense Diplomacy Association to promote education and research related to K-culture.
The signing ceremony was held at the Chang Bong-ae AI Center on campus and was attended by key representatives from both organizations, including Moon Hyung-nam, Dean of Hallyu International College; Hong Kyu-deok, Distinguished Professor at Hallyu International College; and Kwon Tae-hwan, President of the Korean Defense Diplomacy Association.
Hallyu International College brings strengths in global education infrastructure, Hallyu content, and international student networks, while the Korean Defense Diplomacy Association contributes expertise in defense diplomacy and international cooperation. By combining these strengths, the two organizations plan to collaborate in supporting talented individuals seeking opportunities abroad and in broadening foreigners’ understanding of Korean culture.
Specifically, the two sides agreed to cooperate in the areas of education and talent development, research and policy collaboration, global network cooperation, co-hosting international seminars and academic conferences, and sharing domestic and international networks and joint branding initiatives.

Prof. Hong Kyu-deok, Distinguished Professor at Hallyu International College—who previously served as Director General of the Ministry of National Defense Reform Office and Ambassador to Hungary, and currently serves as Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Korean Defense Diplomacy Association—played a bridging role in facilitating the agreement.
Dean Moon Hyung-nam stated, “This agreement marks a meaningful starting point that connects Hallyu, global cooperation, and the cultivation of international talent,” adding, “Based on Hallyu International College’s global educational capabilities and international student network, we will continue striving for the globalization of Hallyu and the development of global talent.”
Kwon Tae-hwan, President of the Korean Defense Diplomacy Association, said, “By combining expertise in defense diplomacy and international cooperation with Hallyu content, we believe we can create a new model of collaboration,” adding, “We will work together to further enhance Korea’s cultural value and global competitiveness.”
