Naming ceremony for Sunheon Hall room 304 as “Professor Lee Jung-woo Classroom”

On Friday, October 11, Sookmyung Women’s University held a naming ceremony for room 304 in Sunheon Hall, designating it as the “Professor Lee Jung-woo Classroom.”
Professor Emerita Lee Jung-woo of the Department of Family & Resource Management joined Sookmyung Women’s University as a faculty member of the College of Home Economics in 1973, serving as the Head of the Home Management Practice Center, Dean of the College of Home Economics, and Dean of the Graduate School. Since her retirement in 2003, Lee has continued her dedication to the university, donating an additional KRW 62.1 million on the day, making her total contributions of KRW 100 million.
In recognition of Lee's noble dedication, the university named room 304 of the Sunheon Hall the “Professor Lee Jung-woo Classroom.”
President Moon Si Yeun, Vice President Wee Kyung-woo, Director of External Affairs Lee Hyung-jin, Dean of College of Human Ecology Kim Yon-son, Head of Strategy & Planning Department Kim Chul-yun, Head of Academic Affairs Department Yang Seung-chan, Head of Admissions Department Lee Ho-seop, Head of Student Affairs Department Jung Hye-young, Head of Career Development Department Son Seo-hee, and Professor of the Liberal Arts Department Kim Kyung-ah attended the ceremony to celebrate the occasion.
Professor Emerita Lee commented, “I will keep rooting for the students of Sookmyung as they grow into capable female leaders who will shape the world.”
President Moon extended her gratitude to Professor Lee, saying, “We are deeply grateful to Professor Lee for her tireless support of our university’s growth and her commitment to nurturing future generations. We will use the development fund to strengthen Sookmyung’s vision of becoming a global women’s university and nurturing female leaders through our ‘Outthinkers’ initiative.”
Meanwhile, Professor Lee is a member of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Korea, the nation’s foremost academic institution. Since the academy’s establishment in 1954, Lee holds the distinguished record of being the first female member and the first to join with her spouse.
