Following the extension of the online class period, a change in grade evaluation system will be applied temporarily during this semester(2020-1).

1. Reason for the change in grade evaluation system: Due to the long-term continuation of COVID19 and the period of online classes being extended, it is considered difficult to evaluate fairly utilizing the current grade evaluation system and thus the percentage of ‘A’s will be expanded in regards to relative evaluation, which is one of school’s current grade evaluation methods. Moreover, experiment/training/practice needed courses will apply absolute evaluation when grading.(experiment·training·practice course standard: course which requires ‘0’ theory class hours).

2. Period: 2020 1st Semester (temporary)

3. Change of Grade Evaluation System

   A. Experiment·training·practice courses will apply absolute evaluation

experiment·training·practice course standard: course which requires ‘0’ theory class hours

   B. Expand general relative evaluation to exceptional relative evaluation(Within 50% ‘A’s)

   C. Due to the online classes extending, just with the consent of students, courses which are difficult to be evaluated with letter grades(A,B,C-) can be converted to P/F grading

5. Requests according to the grade evaluation changes

 - Even with both absolute and relative evaluations temporarily applied with the exceptional standard this semester(2020-1), so that grades can be evaluated with distinction. The university will take advantage of this change as a practice run for expanding the absolute evaluation in the near future.

 - Courses of absolute evaluation will need reasonable and precise grading standards. Also, identical courses with separate group classes should apply similar learning objectives, quality-levels, and grading standards.

 - Due to extended period of online classes, evaluation factors from the various online activities should be applied in order to establish a fair evaluation standard, and then notify the guidelines about the changed grade evaluation criteria in the syllabus and later on provide feedback of detailed grades.

 Example of Absolute Evaluation Standards

Applying the conversion of detailed grades of ‘out of 100’ and letter grades or establishing the learning objective and learning achievement standards
