Important Notice on Influenza A

The type A virus is the most virulent human virus among the three influenza types and cause the most severe disease. The influenza A virus can be subdivided into different serotypes on the antibody response to these viruses. Some of the serotypes that have been confirmed in human bodies can cause a number of known human pandemic deaths. The Korean Government is deeply concerned about preventing Influenza virus A, and checking for symptoms of the virus from every visitor after a 7 day period. Special care must be taken during the 7 days from your entrance to Korea, which is the period of incubation of an attack of Influenza virus A. All student, staff, and faculty members who had a history of overseas travel and had arrived in Korea after 24 Aug are required to stay at home until you are proved to have no symptoms of Influenza A by the Korean Government Regulations. Please report the date of your entry to the Office of International Affairs, if you are scheduled to arrive in Korea from overseas country after 24 Aug. Your absence from 1 Sep through 7 Sep will be considered as attendance. Additionally, a thermometer is available in the office of International Guest House I, you may use it whenever you want to check your fever. Emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:  1)Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath  2)Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen  3)Sudden dizziness  4)Confusion  5)Severe or persistent vomiting  6)lu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough Public Health Guidance on Influenza A(H1N1)  1)Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.  2)Use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of the tissue and cleanse your hands thoroughly afterwards.  3)Report to a quarantine station or a public health center nearby if you develop severe respiratory symptoms including runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, fever or feverishness after returning from countries where Influenza A(H1N1) case has been identified.  4)You cannot be infected with Influenza A(H1N1) from eating pork or pork products. The Influenza A(H1N1) virus is killed by cooking temperatures of over 70℃. Please contact us if you have symptoms of fever 37.8℃ or over with runny nose, congestion, sore throat, or cough during your first 7days in Korea. Thank you for your cooperation.
